Teachers demonstrate knowledge of the content they teach. |
I am a Math major student from the University of Lethbridge. Throughout my teaching practicums, I had the opportunity to teach a variety of math concepts at different levels, as well as content from different subject areas including science, art, social studies, health, and physical education to demonstrate my expertise.

Teachers identify and respond to learner differences. |
It is essential for a teacher to identify the learning needs of all students in the classroom, and use a variety of strategies to differentiate learning to maximize the learning of all students. To help me achieve this goal, I created a strategy toolbox for a number of student exceptionalities teachers may face in the classroom. This toolbox outlines observable characteristics of each exceptionality as well as specific teaching strategies that can be used to meet the needs of students with these exceptionalities.

Teachers use a broad range of instructional strategies. |
In my teaching I included a wide variety of teaching strategies including direct instruction, small and large group activities, individual learning, learning stations, problem solving projects, demonstrations, images, videos, manipulatives, books, hands-on activities and so on. Students learn best when they are truly enaged in what they are learning. In the Grade 1 Math pattern unit, I planned a particular lesson where students gets the opportunity to create their own pattern worms. In activities like this, students are able to learn and have fun at the same time. These are the activities students love, and remembers.

Teachers apply a variety of technologies to meet students’ learning needs. |
I have incorporated a variety of technologies through my teaching, including videos, PowerPoints, interactive smartboard activities, virtual field trips and so on. For example, in one of my pattern art lessons, I created a power point that consists various pattern artists along with their famous pattern art pieces. The amazing art pieces really drew great attention from students. Throughout the entire lesson students were very focused, and super excited to learn the materials being taught.
